Configure DR Setup on Single node

Recommended Posts

One of Our Existing Trainee form EBS OAM Integration Training asked for the steps to configure DR with a new installation of single nodes for below Production Servers but single nodes for each.

production servers as below.

production DB : RAC
production EBS:2 internal node and 2 DMZ nodes
production OAM DB: RAC
production: OAM/OID  2 nodes

is it possible to have a production clone and having set up with new OAM/OID?

[AK] Yes it is possible to have DR for EBS-OAM/OID and I am assuming EBS here is 12.1 here but steps remain same for R12.2 . Also on DR side you want to have single node (not HA) -- HA on DR will also work

1. For DR of EBS, follow EBS DR Note, we also cover this in EBS Advanced Course
2. For OAM/OID DR: You have the following options

2.1 Configure Hostname to be same for  Live Site and DR site (IPs will be different, this will avoid any coherence server for OAM )
a) Configure Datagurad for Database of OAM/OID
b) Copy File system as it is from first OAM/OID application tier, WebGate & AccessGate on Primary to DR server
c) On DR Site Application Tier host, in /etc/hosts change Database Hostname IP to point to DR site Database

Make sure application tier file system is kept in sync from Primary to DR server using tools like rsync or file-based replication
Make sure database is kept in sync using data guard

At the time of failover
a) Open Database on Standby in Readi Write
b) Open Admin Server and in WebLogic console change from Multi Datasource to Single Datasource
c) Start Managed Servers, OID, WebServer & access Gate
d) Test End to End

Note: You can also use cloning to clone OAM/OID , covered in Fusion Middleware & OAM COurses
